A world of men at New York Men’s Fashion Week

Well, it finally happened. Yes, we’re talking about the first ever New York Men’s fashion week. Many have tagged this inaugural event as #NYFWM and we at MAN’edged have been looking forward to it for some time.

The usual NYC fashion week

Usually in NYC there are two main fashion weeks – one in September and February. These shows present both womenswear and menswear. Oftentimes, the men’s collections are hidden behind the spotlight that womenswear enjoys.

Usually when menswear collections are presented in September, buyers have already spent a majority of their budgets. The fashion shows overseas garner their attention and spending dollars, leaving little left for U.S. menswear brands.

This season however NYFWM allowed U.S. men’s fashion to take center stage and grabbed the attention of these influential buyers.

Brands/Designers presented

The brand presentations included names like Ricardo Seco, Edmund, Capsule, Perry Ellis, Loris Diran, Gypsy Sport, Nautica, Asaf Ganot, and Timo Weiland.

Streetstyle

What’s a fashion week in New York City without some street style? This year, the guys did not disappoint! From big name menswear influencers like Nick Wooster to celebrity athletes like Dwayne Wade, the streets were filled with style. You can check out our coverage here.

The environment

There’s something very warm and approachable about this men’s industry event. Held at the Skylight Clarkson Square space, the presentations were housed in three various platforms. One of our favorite fashion experts, Brett Fahlgren, a CFDA correspondent, gave an excellent tour for the CFDA. Check that video out here.
